After a long week that began last Friday with winds and so much water, I am truly in awe at the resilience of Houstonians. I am not born and raised with the threat of a hurricane, but I have learned from everyone in the community on how to prepare since I came to Houston in 2007. What is amazing is that not only do Houstonians prepare for the storm, but they try to prepare for what may come after the storm as well.

As Houston begins to return to regular business hours, I know that there are several of our members who will not be able to return to normalcy for some time. I, along with the Board and Advisory Board of NAWMBA Houston Professional Chapter are very sorry if the disaster struck you with either a flooded home or otherwise hurt you or your loved ones. We would like you to know that we are here for you. To those affected by Hurricane Harvey, our thoughts are with you and your loved ones during this time. The NAWMBA Houston Professional Chapter Board and Advisory Board are here for you. You are not alone and we will rebuild together. Reach out to us and the women you have met through NAWMBA and we will help in the best way we can.

Throughout the rest of the year, we will encourage donations to be dropped off at our events as well as monetary donations to the various organizations that will continue to support the effort to help rebuild our communities.

We look forward to lending a hand where it is needed in our #HoustonStrong community.
